Lin-Manuel Miranda joins hospital briefing to thank staff
Thanks to social distancing guidelines, he wasn’t in the room where it happened.
But Lin-Manuel Miranda managed to take part in a staff briefing at one of New York’s largest hospitals to thank its workers who are battling the city’s horrific COVID-19 outbreak.
New York Presbyterian’s executive vice president, Dr. Laura Forese, gives a live video briefing to the hospital system’s 47,000-plus employees daily, according to a press release, and Monday’s call included a recorded video message from Miranda, 40.
The “Hamilton” star said, “I know you all have families. I know you’re all putting yourselves on the line and you never asked for this. But you are heroes and you’re doing incredible work.”
He added, “I’m grateful for your service. New York City is grateful for your service.”
It wasn’t Miranda’s only good deed of late. He also appeared via Zoom on John Krasinski’s YouTube show, “Some Good News,” on Sunday night to surprise a 9-year-old girl who had tickets to see “Hamilton” on her birthday, but can’t go because of the lockdown. He was joined by some of the show’s original cast.
