NFL correspondent Jane Slater caught her ex cheating via Fitbit
NFL Network correspondent Jane Slater says she caught an ex cheating after their shared Fitbit app showed a sudden giant bump in his heart rate and physical activity at 4 a.m.
Slater says she “loved” the Fitbit the former boyfriend gave her for Christmas. But the gift backfired in a big way. According to 39-year-old Slater, she and her ex would spur on each other’s workouts by mutually tracking their activity meters. Then she noticed an unusual bump in his heart rate in the middle of the night.
“We synched [sic] up, motivated each other … didn’t hate it until he was unaccounted for at 4 am and his physical activity levels were spiking on the app. wish the story wasn’t real,” Slater — also a FoxSports podcast host — wrote in a tweet, which now has over 200,000 likes. She added in a following message, “Spoiler alert: he was not enrolled in an OrangeTheory class at 4am.” To add insult to cardio calorie burn, she shared, “It was his birthday and I was at his home w balloons ahead of the birthday I planned the next day,” adding she was so worried about his whereabouts she had even thought about calling the police.
Her followers offered similar tales of affairs outed by Fitbit. “Jane! My ex-husband got caught in an affair because he was wearing the training watch and heartbeat monitor my mom bought him for Christmas — while ‘running,’ ” @carey_gibbons wrote. “It was the under-one-minute heart rate spike that confirmed things for me! #prematuresayswhat.”
Slater further offered, “I also had a guy get drunk and bring another girl home forgetting I was spending the night there. We were set to go to church the next morning and I stayed in to get sleep. I could write a book.” And, “My girlfriend once said ‘one day we will laugh about this’ as I sobbed uncontrollably in the car. I have now many times bahahahah.” She concluded, “The problem was me.” Slater didn’t name her Fitbit philistine, but did refer to him as “My Dallas ex,” adding a different guy she dated in Austin was unfairly getting shade on social media.
